8 Month, 5 Day Anniversary

My husband and I recently celebrated our 8 Month and 5 Day Anniversary.

What!?!

You don't celebrate the 8 Month and 5 Day Anniversary!?!

It is customary to celebrate the 8 Month and 5 Day Anniversary with a gift.

1st Year is Paper
5th Year is Wood
10th Year is Tin
20th Year is China
30th Year is Pearl
40th Year is Ruby
50th Year is Gold
60th Year is Diamond

8 Month and 5 Days is Wedding Band!

It is so pretty! I love it!

And I really love it with my engagement ring!

Now you may be asking why I didn't receive my wedding ring on my wedding day?  Well, a month before our wedding, my husband and I both quit our jobs to start a new business.  We had money saved up, but with out jobs I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a ring at that time, so I just used my engagement ring when we got married (took it off, put it right back on).  See, a ring does not make you married.  This January we were back down in Fort Worth, where we originally purchased my engagement ring and decided to order my wedding band, and a few weeks later it came in the mail.

One more quick story about my rings.  The center stone in my engagement ring is a family heirloom.  It was my grandmothers, from her wedding ring.  She died when my dad was young.  My Grandpa then wore the diamond in a ring until he died.  I then inherited the diamond.  My parents held on to it until I got engaged.  I always knew I wanted to use it in my engagement ring.  It means so much to me to have a little piece of my family with me always.  A piece of the past I never knew, a piece of my family I have now, and a piece of the family I am creating with my husband.  It makes me smile every time I look at my hand.

Happy 8 Month and 5 Day Anniversary!
